Local theatres

  • Theater Schmeater: announced their new Artistic Director, Seattle theater veteran J.D. Lloyd.  He will be directing the TBA fall show at Schmee. LINK
  • Solo Performance Festival: Last month at Theatre Off Jackson.  If you missed the 5-week long festival of our talented solo performers, Corey at City Arts has a good writeup of his experience.  LINK


  • ABC’s NETwork 101: Financial Literacy To promote the sustainability of small and mid-sized arts organizations, the Network of Ensemble Theaters (NET) will kick off the pilot phase of the Ensembles All-together Building Capacity (Ensembles ABC) program with a financial literacy workshop on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at the Canoe Social Club.   • USArtists International Grant App deadline May 3.  USArtists International provides support for American dance, music, and theater ensembles and solo artists invited to perform at significant international festivals anywhere in the world outside the United States and its territories.  LINK


  • Oregon Shakespeare Festival: NPR has a great article on the success of OSF, a “theater thriving despite the downturn.”  You might remember their performance of Equivocation which played last year at the Seattle Rep. LINK
