Theatre Puget Sound
Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) is a leadership and service organization founded in 1997 to advocate for the region’s growing theatre community’s causes and administer much-needed services. TPS is now the Northwest’s premiere arts advocacy and leadership organization. TPS has a two-fold mission: To promote the spiritual and economic necessity of theatre to the public, and to unify and strengthen the theatre community through programs, resources, and services. TPS directly serves over 1,600 performing arts practitioners and 140 organizations within our region.
Theatre Puget Sound has internship opportunities in the following areas:
Programming & Development Intern – ARTober Festival
• Work with TPS Deputy Director in organizing this large scale regional arts festival.
o Create and manage database of regional arts organizations and artists
o Communicate with organizations and artists around recruitment for the festival
o Assist with the building of a strategic partner network in support of the festival
o Write copy for web page and recruitment materials
o Assist with grant writing and sponsor proposals
o Attend meetings and community gatherings with Deputy Director as needed
TPS is looking for a friendly and motivated individual with excellent communication and writing skills. Candidates must be highly organized and attentive to detail with an ability to work independently, set priorities and meet deadlines. Computer proficiency is a MUST: Must be familiar with most Microsoft Windows programs. Familiarity with the regional arts community is ideal but not required.
Social Media Marketing Intern – ARTober Festival (summer internship)
• Work with TPS Deputy Director on social media strategy, blogging, and building awareness of and excitement for the ARTober Festival
o Define and execute social media strategy including awareness and buzz generation on social networks, discussion boards, blogs and other influencer groups
o Track, optimize and report on strategy performance to Deputy Director
o Manage portfolio of social media accounts and engage with online audiences, both reactively and proactively, to promote the account on social channels
TPS is looking for innovative thinkers with an interest in marketing, the arts, and new media. We are interested in working with individuals with creativity and curiosity. Experience with Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, mobile applications, and all things Web 2.0 ideal.
Multimedia Intern – ARTober Festival (summer internship)
• Work with TPS staff to create a multimedia presence for the festival that will assist with both marketing the festival and recruiting participation.
o Create videos and podcasts, posting multimedia on our website and coming up with new ways to use multimedia to promote the festival.
o Attend at least 3 arts projects per month and create short, powerful multimedia stories for the Internet. The stories may be written, photographed and/or video-taped.
o Interview festival participants and representatives from our partner organizations.
The multimedia intern should have knowledge of video editing and podcast creation, and have access to equipment necessary for production.
Membership and Program Intern
• Work with TPS Membership/Program Associate in the management of standing and creation of new programming.
o Interfacing with Facility Clients and booking space for the community in our rehearsal and performance facilities at Seattle Center
o Tracking program and membership payments
o Sending out Member Cards
Community Liaison Intern
• Work with TPS Executive Director to maintain and strengthen relationships within the theatre community, boards of directors, and donor development
o Member communications
o TPS Board Liaison
o Individual Donor Tracking and Development
Theatre Puget Sound is looking for energetic interns who can work a flexible schedule (approximately 10-15 hours a week), who enjoy the arts community and who are able to work at least a semester’s length of time. The internship may be extended.
The internship is not paid, however there are many opportunities to receive excellent practical experience and build connections within the local arts community. We are more than willing to work with you and your school regarding school credits.
